Carrie Bow Cay Environmental Monitoring System Historical Archives

Data from the Carrie Bow Cay Environmental Monitoring System is presently available in two formats:
1. ASCII: Comma- or tab-delimited ASCII text format suitable for import into spreadsheet and plotting software packages. The first line of the file includes the parameter names and the second line the measurement units. The data follows the two header lines.
2. Excel: Data is stored in Microsoft Excel formatted file and provides in compressed ZIp format. This format is reserved for yearly summary files.

Instructions:
Left click on the link for the file in the table below. If this
is unsuccessful then right click on the link and select "Save
Target As" from the menu that is displayed. Select the directory
on your hard drive where you would like to save the file and then
click SAVE in the "Save As" dialog box.

Notes:
1. The pressure gage was recalibrated on 12/07/2002 hence depth measurements after 12/07/2002 have a different calibration reference.
2. A datum correction was applied to water level/depth measurements acquired prior to 12/07/2002. The correction accounts for the recalibration of the pressure sensor performed on 12/07/2002 to create a common datum. The correction is included only in the Excel Summary files. The updated Excel files were posted 5/26/2004.
3. The weather system measures two paramaters related to rainfall: rain rate and rainfall (accumulation). Rain rate is determined by measuring the rain fall over a 10 minute sampling period. The value for rain rate is then converted and stored in units of in/hr or cm/hr. Although the units are per hour the value is representative of the 10 minute sampling period. A value is stored every 10 minutes for the rainfall accumulation. The rainfall value is a summation of the individual 10 minute measurements and is reset to zero at midnight in order to provide a daily measurement of rainfall accumulation. As an example, if 0.1 inches of rain falls between 12:00 midnight and 12:10am the value reported is 0.1inches. If another 0.05 inches falls between 12:10 and 12:20 the next rainfall value is 0.15 inches. In this manner, the total rainfall for any given day is contained in the last measurement for that day. The last measurement is taken just before midnight at 23:51:24. In order to determine a yearly total you will need to sum the last rainfall value which occurs at 23:51:24 each day.
